Advanced Platform for Managing Medication Inventory and Distribution
Distribution of a Specialized Medication by STADA
STADA, the client, is a leading manufacturer of high-quality pharmaceuticals. STADA Arzneimittel AG sells its products in approximately 120 countries. We worked on this project with their Czech branch.
They distribute Lecigimon, a drug that alleviates symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Given its short expiration date and high cost, efficient inventory management is essential. Lecigimon has a six-month expiration date and must be refrigerated to maintain its effectiveness. The lengthy ordering and delivery process—approximately six months to the central warehouse in Prague—further increases the risk of the drug expiring before use. Additionally, patients undergoing surgery require a probe for drug administration, and both the probe and pump have expiration dates that need to be monitored and replaced as necessary.
Tackling Distribution Challenges for Lecigimon
The primary challenge of this project was ensuring the continuous supply and distribution of Lecigimon, a medication with a short expiration date that requires specific storage conditions. The process takes about six months from ordering to delivery, so there’s a risk that the drug could expire before it reaches patients. To overcome this challenge, the solution focuses on keeping users informed about inventory levels, planning consumption, optimizing orders, and sending timely notifications for reordering. This ensures that patients receive their medication on time without interruption. The solution works seamlessly on both desktop and mobile devices, with notifications sent via email and SMS.
A Streamlined Web Platform for Efficient Distribution
To address these challenges, we developed a web platform that streamlines the purchasing and distribution of Lecigimon, ensuring patients receive their cartridges promptly and preventing any medication from going unused due to expiration. The web application is accessible only to authorized users, and its responsive design ensures compatibility with both desktop and mobile browsers.
Key Functionalities for Optimal Management
Provides clear information on the inventory status of both the drug and its accessories.
Plans and models drug consumption and ordering processes efficiently.
Suggests optimal order volumes and dosage requirements.
Sends timely notifications to users when new orders are necessary.

Collaborative Design Phase for User-Centric Solutions
We dedicated substantial time to the design phase, focusing on understanding the complexities of the existing medication distribution system. This deep understanding was then translated into a comprehensive design proposal aimed at simplifying the distribution process for all roles involved. Our primary goal was to provide users with immediate and clear access to critical information, including order statuses, patient conditions, and other essential details. Special attention was given to the development of a complex form used to calculate the necessary medication dosage for each patient. Each dose was carefully assessed on an individual basis, considering the patient’s prior treatments. Before moving into the development phase, we conducted multiple reviews of the design proposal with future users to ensure the system would effectively meet their needs.
Delivering an Efficient Solution for Short-Expiration Medications
We successfully developed a software solution that ensures the simple, smooth, and efficient medication distribution with a very short expiration date.
